Assam government orders implementation of security measures for health professionals

The Assam government on Friday directed all hospitals across the state to immediately implement security measures for doctors and other health workers. Chief Secretary Ravi Kota chaired a meeting with Director General of Police G P Singh to review security at the medical college. The meeting focused on CCTV coverage, scanner mechanism, police checkpoints and toilet facilities for health workers in government and private hospitals. The meeting was held following orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Supreme Court in the wake of the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at a government hospital in Kolkata in West Bengal three weeks ago.
