PM Modi said at the 32nd International Economists Conference, India is a food surplus country
Prime Minister Modi reached the inaugural program of the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists. During this, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was also present. During this, PM Modi said that the last time the ICAE conference was held in India, it was a challenging time for India’s agriculture and food security. India had just gained independence. Today India is a food surplus country. Today India is the largest producer of milk, pulses and spices… Today India is engaged in providing solutions to global food security and global nutrition security. India has a strong ecosystem related to education and research related to agriculture. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research itself has more than 100 research institutes. There are more than 500 colleges in India for the study of agriculture and related subjects. There are more than 700 agricultural science centers in India that help in delivering new technology to farmers. PM Modi said that as ancient as India is, our beliefs and experiences regarding agriculture and food are as ancient. Science has been given priority in the Indian agricultural tradition…Thousands of years ago it was said in our scriptures that food is the best among all substances, therefore food has been called the root of all medicines. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India’s agricultural growth rate has remained the highest in the world. Along with increasing production, India has also been concerned that the production should be safe for the human body as well as for the health of the soil…India is now emphasizing on natural farming.
