‘Increase the jail budget, next number is yours’, Sanjay Singh’s jibe in AAP Parliament, JP Nadda also took a jibe
Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh attacked the BJP-led Modi government during the discussion on Union Budget 2024 in Rajya Sabha on July 25. Singh criticized the government for reducing budget allocations for sectors like defense, health, agriculture, education and transport. He also demanded the government to increase the budget of jails while taking a jibe. Participating in the discussion on the General Budget 2024-25 in Rajya Sabha, Singh claimed to ‘catch and put in jail’ other opposition leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and alleged that the government’s aim is not to provide justice in such cases. Singh said that along with agriculture, health, transport, pension and energy sector, the budget of scientific department and jail has also been reduced. He said, “Increase the jail budget. You have sent me to jail now. Tomorrow you have to come to jail. Increase the jail budget, fix the jail. Next number is yours. At least fix the jail.” At that time, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, who was present on the chair, told the leader of the house JP Nadda that Sanjay Singh’s appeal was ‘very touching’ and he should pay attention to it as it also has a ‘background’. Nadda said on this, “This will be taken care of, Mr. Chairman.” Sanjay Singh also raised the issue of alleged misuse of investigation agencies and alleged that the Chief Minister of Delhi was ‘arrested and put in jail’, whose blood sugar level has gone below 50 36 times. He also raised the issue of arrest of AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut in various corruption cases. He said, “Your aim is not to get justice. Your aim is to keep us in jail. The more you put us in jail, the deeper you will go. Whoever has done this politics will be finished. You have reached 240 now, tomorrow you will reach 24 and then two.”
