Karnataka government forms inquiry commission to probe irregularities

MUDA scam: The Karnataka government on Sunday constituted an inquiry commission to probe the alleged alternate site scam in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The state government’s action comes following allegations that the MUDA fraudulently allotted plots to land losers, including some plots allotted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati. According to a notification issued by the government late Sunday night, Justice P N Desai, a retired judge of the Karnataka High Court, will head the single-member commission. The commission will have to complete the probe within six months and submit its report to the state government. Addressing X, Siddaramaiah wrote, “The allegations against the allotment of MUDA lands are being heard, and with the hope of conducting a transparent and fair probe, the State Government has constituted a one-member inquiry commission headed by Shri P N Desai, retired judge of the Hon’ble Karnataka High Court.” He added, “I hope the matter will be thoroughly probed and the truth will come out.”
