Kejriwal’s role being probed: CBI tells court

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday told a Delhi court that only the probe into Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was pending in the corruption case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The court extended the judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia till July 15. The central agency told the court that the probe into other accused has been completed. Sisodia’s lawyers told Special Judge Kaveri Baveja that the agency had already informed the Supreme Court that the probe into all the accused would be completed by July 3. To this, CBI lawyers said new facts have emerged after June and they will inform the Supreme Court about it. Special Public Prosecutor D P Singh told the court that the role of all the accused in the case has been probed and only Kejriwal’s role is pending. The court also allowed Sisodia to release funds for development works in his Patparganj assembly constituency. Meanwhile, the court deferred till July the aspect of taking cognizance of the third supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI against Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K Kavitha in the excise case as some incorrect pages were found in it. Advocates Nitesh Rana and P Mohit Rao appeared for Kavitha.
