Mamta Banerjee greets people on Rath Yatra
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday greeted people on the occasion of Rath Yatra and wished peace, harmony and prosperity in their lives. Banerjee said she will participate in the Rath Yatra organised by ISKCON in Kolkata. “Best wishes to everyone today on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra. May this day bring peace, harmony and prosperity to all with the blessings of Lord Jagannath,” she said in a post on social media platform X. “Today, lakhs of people from across Bengal will join the Rath Yatra. There will be a huge gathering at historic Mahesh (where we have renovated the ancient temple). I will join the yatra at Kolkata ISKCON,” she said. The chief minister also assured the people of the state to start the Rath Yatra from the under-construction Jagannath temple at Digha in East Midnapore district from next year. “We will all wait for next year’s Rath Yatra at our new Jagannath Dham in Digha! Jai Jagannath.”The West Bengal government is constructing the Jagannath temple in the coastal city of Digha. The state government has spent more than Rs 140 crore on this project of ‘West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation’.
