Education Minister Atishi ordered to cancel the transfer of five thousand teachers
New Delhi. Delhi Education Minister Atishi said on Thursday that she has directed Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to immediately withdraw the transfer order of 5,000 teachers, which was issued without her approval. In the circular titled Online Request for Transfer of Teaching Staff of the Directorate of Education, all teachers who have served for more than 10 years in a school were directed to compulsorily apply for transfer.
The Directorate of Education had said in an order on June 11, “All teachers who have completed 10 consecutive years in the same school will have to compulsorily apply online for transfer on the basis of mutual consent or selecting the maximum number of schools in general. Teachers who do not apply online will be transferred by the headquarters itself to any school as per official requirement. The education minister had ordered on July 1 that no teacher should be transferred just because he or she has spent more than 10 years in a particular school. Addressing a press conference, Atishi said she has come to know that corruption has taken place in this case.
