Amidst the political crisis, Congress’s Bhupinder Singh Hooda asked for an appointment with the Governor.

Amid rising political tension in Haryana, the Congress party on Thursday sought an appointment with the state Governor after three independent MLAs withdrew support to the BJP government. In a letter addressed to the Governor’s office, the Congress sought a meeting with the Governor on Friday. The delegation led by deputy CLP leader Aftab Ahmed and Bibi Batra, chief whip CLP, sought time to discuss the current political scenario in the state with other prominent Congress leaders. The withdrawal of support by three independent MLAs on Tuesday has intensified the opposition’s claims that the Nayab Singh Saini government is now in a ‘minority’ within the state assembly. Despite these claims, Chief Minister Saini had said that his government would remain stable. Adding to the political turmoil, JJP leader Dushyant Chautala wrote a letter to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, highlighting the government’s alleged loss of ‘majority’ and urging an immediate floor test. Apart from this, in an interesting development, JJP MLAs have reached the residence of Haryana minister and BJP leader Mahipal Dhanda to meet former CM Manohar Lal Khattar. It is noteworthy that according to a report, during a campaign program in Bhiwani, Hooda had expressed doubts about joining hands with JJP. He said, “We are 30 MLAs… As far as JJP is concerned, it would have been better if they had paraded 10 MLAs in front of the Governor.” He said, “There is no dispute regarding our MLAs. Some of their (JJP) MLAs are supporting someone else…let them go to the Governor with their 10 MLAs.
