Chargesheet filed after detailed probe in sarpanch murder case: Fadnavis
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said the police have filed a chargesheet in the Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case after a very thorough investigation. He expressed confidence that the culprits will get severe punishment. The Maharashtra Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday filed a chargesheet of over 1,200 pages in a court in Beed district in the sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case and two related cases. The murder of sarpanch Deshmukh of Masajog village in Beed on December 9 last year kicked up a political storm in the state as Valmik Karad, a close aide of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) minister Dhananjay Munde, was arrested in a related extortion case. Deshmukh was abducted, tortured and killed for trying to stop alleged extortion from a power company in Beed.
