RSS mouthpiece ‘Panchjanya’ tried to calm the controversy raised by Mohan Bhagwat’s comment

The RSS chief had recently expressed concern over the new temple-mosque controversy across the country. His comment caused a lot of uproar. Sadhus and saints openly came out in protest against this comment. BJP leaders were also not able to say anything on this issue. The leaders of the Sangh themselves were in a dilemma as to how to find a solution to this crisis. Now a Hindi weekly associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has tried to calm the controversy arising from Bhagwat’s statement in its editorial. Let us tell you that the editorial says that the recent comment of Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat is a “clear call” to the society to adopt a “sensible attitude”. The editorial has also warned against “unnecessary debate and misleading propaganda” on this issue. Let us remind you that on December 19, while delivering a lecture on the topic “India: Vishwaguru” at the Sahjivan Lecture series in Pune, Bhagwat advocated an inclusive society and said that the world needs to be shown that India can live in harmony. Now, in a December 28 editorial by Hitesh Shankar, editor of RSS mouthpiece ‘Panchjanya’, it is said, “After the recent statement of RSS chief Mohanrao Bhagwat on temples, a fierce battle (war of words) has erupted in the media world. Or rather, it is being done deliberately. Different meanings are being drawn from a clear statement. New reactions are coming every day.” He said that these reactions show more of “furore and hysteria generated by social media experts” rather than spontaneous social opinion. The editorial said that Bhagwat’s statement is a clear call to the society to adopt a sensible approach towards this issue. It said, “This is also right. Temples are the center of faith of Hindus, but using them for political gain is absolutely unacceptable. In today’s times, promoting unnecessary debate and misleading propaganda on issues related to temples is a worrying trend. Social media has further accelerated this trend. According to the editorial, “Some anti-social elements calling themselves social have become self-proclaimed protectors and thinkers on social media platforms. There is a need to stay away from such irrational thinkers who use public sentiments on emotional issues of the society.” The editorial says that India is the name of such a civilization and culture, which for thousands of years not only propagated the philosophy of unity in diversity, but also lived and assimilated it.
