Charges framed against Imran Masood for making controversial remarks on Modi

Lucknow. The court is tightening its grip on Congress’s loudmouth leader Imran Masood, who made headlines by making controversial statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the Lok Sabha elections 2014, in his speech in Saharanpur, Imran Masood made indecent remarks against the then BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and BJP leader Narendra Modi. After which, charges have been framed against Congress MP Imran Masood in the MP MLA court in this case, while the MP has denied the charges. Additional District Government Advocate (ADGC) Gulab Singh said that on 27 March 2014, during an election rally in Deoband, Imran Masood made indecent remarks on PM Narendra Modi. He also addressed two Dalit leaders by using casteist words. A case was registered in the Deoband police station in this matter. Police filed a chargesheet under sections 153A, 295A, 504, 506, 3(1) 10 SC/ST Act and 125 Representation of People Act. Imran Masood had filed an application calling the allegations baseless, but the court dismissed it for lack of sufficient grounds. Section 153A – promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of place of residence, language etc. and doing an act that adversely affects the maintenance of harmony against Imran, section 259A – using casteist words to incite enmity and hatred towards the Hindu religion of Dalits. Hateful acts, which are meant to insult any class and hurt its religious sentiments – (this crime can result in a punishment of three years) 504 – using abusive language against someone. Insulting with intent to provoke breach of the peace or to commit any other offence- (punishment for two years) 506- Threatening to kill- (punishment for seven years) 3(1) 10 SC/ST Act, making caste-based remarks against members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. 125- Representation of People Act, attempts to promote enmity and hatred between people and religions.
