Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took a dig at Uddhav Thackeray by taking the names of Aurangzeb and Afzal Khan, know what he said
Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday launched a scathing attack on his rival and predecessor Uddhav Thackeray, accusing him of imitating the actions of Aurangzeb and Afzal Khan and doing politics in the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Talking to reporters, Shinde criticized the opposition for its rhetoric on the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Malvan area of Sindhudurg on August 26. Shinde said that it is unfortunate that the opposition is doing politics despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Deputy Chief Ministers – Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar and himself apologizing for this “painful” incident. He said that a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was uprooted with two JCBs in Congress-ruled Karnataka. Shinde said, “The people of Maharashtra had already shown him (Thackeray) his place two years ago. You take the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, but your work is that of Aurangzebi and Afzal Khani.” He said that the people of Maharashtra will teach the opposition a lesson. There was rivalry between Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and Shivaji and Aurangzeb had imprisoned him by deceit. Aurangzeb also got Shivaji’s son and successor Chhatrapati Sambhaji killed. Bijapur’s commander Afzal Khan was killed by the Maratha emperor. Chief Minister Shinde said that the opposition is seeing its defeat because the Chief Minister Ladki Behen Yojana has reached the beneficiaries in cities as well as villages. He said that women were not safe during the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
