In West Bengal, life was affected in many parts on Wednesday due to the 12-hour bandh called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in protest against the police action against the protesters during the march to the state secretariat. Public transport services were affected due to rail and road blockades at many places in the state since morning, causing inconvenience to the people. There is less movement on the roads in the capital Kolkata. Very few buses, auto rickshaws and taxis are seen on the roads. The number of private vehicles is also less. However, markets and shops are open as before. Schools and colleges are open but attendance of employees in most private offices is very low as they have been asked to work from home. Attendance in government offices is normal as before. At the same time, the BJP alleged that two of its workers were shot in Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas district.
