Strict restrictions are being imposed on Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tours.

The YSRCP alleged on Thursday that the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is imposing strict restrictions on party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tours because it “cannot tolerate his growing public support.” According to a press release, party spokespersons Putha Siva Shankar, Are Shyamala, and Mancha Nagamalleshwari accused the government of hatching conspiracies whenever Jagan sets out to meet the people, using police restrictions, notices, and detentions to prevent party leaders and workers from reaching him. They claimed that the government limited YS Jagan’s convoy to eight vehicles and issued notices to YSRCP leaders ahead of his visit to Srikakulam to meet former minister Dr. Seediri Appala Raju in jail. Jagan was visiting to support Appala Raju, who had been arrested in a case filed unlawfully after a routine road accident was portrayed by the government and its friendly media as an attempted murder. The leaders questioned why the government was afraid of a former Chief Minister exercising his constitutional right to travel across the state. They recalled that when CM Chandrababu Naidu was the Leader of the Opposition, the YS Jagan government had allowed him to move about freely, despite his inflammatory speeches and attacks carried out by TDP workers. They stated that YS Jagan’s programs over the past two years have been peaceful and that the YSRCP has always cooperated with the police. They further alleged that despite this, the government is sending TDP workers to engage in provocative acts while failing to provide adequate security to the Leader of the Opposition.
