Chirag Paswan’s Major Attack on Rahul Gandhi
Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Thursday accused Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, of being stubborn and deliberately disrupting Parliament. He said that the Congress leader’s attitude was disrupting the House’s functioning during the Budget Session. In an interview with ANI, Paswan said that a pattern has emerged in which the opposition, especially the Congress, becomes adamant on a single issue, disrupting the House’s functioning and denying other opposition members a chance to speak. Paswan said that a pattern is emerging in which the opposition, especially the Congress party, raises an issue and then prevents the House from functioning. The way they are preventing the House from functioning clearly shows that they have no problem. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has become so stubborn that he keeps raising only one issue, neither speaking himself nor allowing anyone else (even from the opposition) to speak. The Union Minister also expressed concern about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security in Parliament and referred to an incident that occurred during the motion of thanks on the President’s address. The controversy erupted when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attempted to quote excerpts from an unpublished book by former Army Chief General MM Naravane (retired) during his speech in the Lok Sabha, prompting protests from members of the ruling party. Speaker Om Birla stated that he had advised Prime Minister Modi not to attend the House to avoid any untoward incidents and described the behavior of some opposition members as unprecedented and inappropriate. He emphasized his duty to maintain the dignity of the House and strongly objected to MPs approaching the Prime Minister’s chair or raising posters. Reacting to the incident, Paswan said that some female opposition MPs, carrying banners, were aggressively moving towards the Prime Minister’s chair, creating a tense atmosphere in the House.
