UP gets state-of-the-art forensic lab
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the newly upgraded A-category Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) in Gorakhpur on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the six-story, modern facility, built at a cost of ₹72.78 crore, is a major step towards strengthening law enforcement. The Chief Minister said that there is no place for crime in the “new Uttar Pradesh” formed after 2017. Anyone trying to break the law will have to face the consequences. After inaugurating and inspecting the advanced laboratory, he congratulated the people of eastern Uttar Pradesh for acquiring such advanced forensic capabilities. Yogi further said that the days when victims wandered helplessly and criminals roamed freely are over. Under a strict zero-tolerance policy, the state government has established a robust system for evidence collection and certification through modern forensic science laboratories, ensuring that no criminal can escape accountability. CM Yogi said that scientific investigations, strengthened by high-tech forensic facilities, have created a reliable system where criminals cannot escape justice. Accurate, prompt, and transparent investigations are now enabling victims to receive timely and hassle-free justice. He explained that despite being the most populous state, Uttar Pradesh had only four forensic laboratories until 2017. After his government came to power, it was decided that each commissionerate should have a forensic laboratory. Today, this number has increased to 12, and six more are under construction. Soon, each commissionerate will have its own laboratory, ensuring comprehensive forensic investigations to corroborate evidence and assist in taking strict action against criminals. The Chief Minister also stated that in addition to establishing these laboratories, the government has deployed two mobile forensic vans in each district to ensure speedy collection of evidence. This system allows for the collection of solid evidence within a few hours, enabling victims to receive justice more efficiently. He said, “Now, no criminal will be able to escape.” Chief Minister Yogi further said that before 2017, even when evidence was collected, criminals often went scot-free due to lack of adequate forensic facilities.
