Shah’s blunt rebuke to RJD on Jeevika Didis
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday criticized the RJD for complaining to the Election Commission about the timing of the transfer of ₹10,000 to Jeevika Didis. Addressing a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters in Darbhanga, with his characteristic enthusiasm, he began by saying that recently, Modi and Nitish Kumar transferred more than ₹1 crore (₹10,000 each) to the bank accounts of Jeevika Didis. “But shockingly, the RJD has written to the Election Commission asking them to take back this amount,” Amit Shah continued, “I want to tell the Jeevika Didis, forget Lalu and Tejashwi; even if their last three generations come, they won’t be able to take this ₹10,000 from them.” The NDA government (both central and state) launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, under which ₹10,000 was transferred to the bank accounts of over one crore “Jeevika didis” (women associated with self-help groups under the Jeevika program) to help them start self-employment. Amit Shah’s words were full of conviction as he targeted the opposition. “Lalu and Rabri want their son to be the Chief Minister, and Sonia Gandhi wants her son to be the Prime Minister. I want to tell them that neither Lalu’s son will become the Chief Minister, nor Sonia Gandhi’s son will become the Prime Minister. There is no vacancy for these people.” The Home Minister then outlined the NDA’s vision for Bihar’s development. “We will build skill development centers in every district of the state. A new factory will be set up in every district, and 10 new industrial parks will be built in the state. Like Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, we will establish a defense corridor in Bihar.” Speaking about proposed development projects in Darbhanga, Bihar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “A grand Sita Mata temple is being constructed at Punaura Dham at a cost of ₹850 crore. Once the temple construction is completed, we will connect Ayodhya and Sitamarhi with Vande Bharat trains…”
