If Congress has affection for infiltrators, why doesn’t it send them to Rahul Gandhi’s house: Himanta

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday accused the Congress of trying to give a new identity to infiltrators and said if the party has so much affection for them, why doesn’t it send them to Rahul Gandhi’s house. Sarma claimed that Congress state president Gaurav Gogoi had recently called the infiltrators ‘na Assamese’ (new Assamese). “If he has said so, he should give them a place in his house, because there is no place for them in our house,” said Sarma, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event, he said how can new Assamese be accommodated if there are not enough resources or space for the original Assamese. Sharma said, “There is no land, no place, no house. We cannot provide adequate facilities to Assamese. In such a situation, how can we provide these facilities to these so-called new Assamese?” The Chief Minister said that if Gogoi is so concerned about them, he should “send these people to Rahul Gandhi’s house.” He said that the eviction drive will continue to free government land from encroachment. The Chief Minister said, “The eviction drive will continue. After the assembly elections next year, the BJP will return to power and even then the eviction will continue.” Meanwhile, Sharma said that in November, more than 10,000 artists will perform the Bodo folk dance ‘Bagurumba’ on the lines of Bihu and Jhumuir. He said in a post on ‘X’, “After the great success of Bihu and Jhumuir, now it is time for Bagurumba to become the main attraction. In November, more than 10,000 artists will perform this dance in front of the whole world and further enhance the heritage of our Bodo community.
