Government will develop website and mobile app for employment abroad: Chief Minister Sukhu

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday directed the Labour and Employment Department to develop a website and mobile application here to empower the youth looking for employment opportunities abroad. He said that comprehensive data of the candidates will be compiled on the digital platform, which will ensure better transparency, access and security while securing jobs abroad. He also directed the department to develop data of the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) of the state. The Chief Minister directed the officials to study the foreign employment model of Kerala and Telangana to prepare an effective strategy for Himachal Pradesh. He said that Kerala has the highest rate of employment abroad in the entire country, where 57.94 out of every thousand people are working abroad, while in Himachal Pradesh this number is only 5.36 per thousand. Sukhu said that ‘Himachal Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation’ (HPSEDC) has been licensed as a registered recruitment agency. He directed HPSEDC to collaborate with certified training agencies to enhance skill development of youth in line with the requirements of the international employment market. He said that about 10 thousand youth from the state go abroad in search of employment. He said that in 2023-24, Himachalis working abroad sent a total of Rs 2,030 crore from abroad.
