Operation Sindoor is a great example of commitment to protect Swaraj, said Amit Shah in Pune

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that India’s armed forces and leadership are committed to protecting ‘Swaraj’ or the country’s sovereignty and this was very well demonstrated during Operation Sindoor. Speaking after unveiling the equestrian statue of Maratha politician and general Peshwa Bajirao I at the National Defense Academy (NDA) in Pune, the BJP leader also said that whenever he is plagued by negative thoughts, he remembers Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bajirao. Shah said that the NDA is the most appropriate place for Bajirao’s memorial as it is an institution where military leadership is trained. Shah said that the land of Pune is the origin place of the sanskar of Swaraj. It was from here in the 17th century that the script of Swaraj reached the country. When the time came to fight for Swaraj again in front of the British, Tilak Maharaj was the first to roar like a lion – ‘Swaraj is my birthright.’ Veer Savarkar ji presented an example of how much a person can do for his country in his life from the holy land of Maharashtra. He said that the inspiration that will be received by installing the statue of Shrimant Bajirao in the National Defense Academy, where the chiefs of the three armies graduate after training, will ensure that no one will be able to touch India’s borders. Shah said that some rules of the art of war are never outdated…the importance of battle formation, the importance of speed, the sense of dedication, the sense of patriotism and the sense of sacrifice…these are what make armies victorious, only the weapons keep changing…and the best example of all these qualities in the 500 years of Indian history is found only in Shrimant Bajirao Peshwa. Amit Shah said that when the whole of South India was suffering from Adilshahi, Qutubshahi, Nizamshahi and Imadshahi and North India was under the Mughals… at such a time a 12-year-old boy took a pledge to liberate the country and establish Hindavi Swaraj… This bravery of Shivaji Maharaj is unimaginable. He worked to fill the youth with the values of Swaraj. After Shivaji Maharaj, Dharamveer Sambhaji Maharaj, Veer Tarabai, Dhanoji-Santoji – many people carried forward the tradition of Shivaji Maharaj. Shah said, “Whenever negative thoughts come to my mind, I usually think of Bal Shivaji and Peshwa Bajirao that they were able to establish ‘Swaraj’ amidst adverse circumstances.” Shah said that the responsibility of protecting Swaraj now lies on 140 crore Indians. He said, “When the time came to fight for the establishment of Swaraj, we did so. When there is a need to fight to protect Swaraj, our army and leadership will definitely do so and Operation Sindoor was the best example of this.
