There will be no toll on two-wheelers, Nitin Gadkari called all speculations wrong

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday dismissed media reports that said that two-wheelers will have to pay toll tax from July 15, 2025. Rejecting the media’s claims, Gadkari said that no such decision is proposed. He condemned media houses for publishing fake news without confirmation. The Union Minister said that some media houses are spreading misleading news about imposing toll tax on two-wheelers. No such decision is proposed. Toll exemption for two-wheelers will continue completely. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) also fact-checked these fake media reports. NHAI said in a post, “Factcheck: Certain sections of the media have reported that the Government of India is planning to impose user fee on two-wheelers. NHAI would like to clarify that no such proposal is under consideration. There is no plan to impose toll fee for two-wheelers.” Recently, reports had surfaced that from July 15, all two-wheelers will have to pay toll tax on highways. The reports further claim that with the move to bring two-wheelers under digital toll collection, the government is planning to ensure that everyone contributes to the cost of maintenance of highways.
