Uttar Pradesh government exaggerated police recruitment process: Mayawati
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Wednesday criticised the Uttar Pradesh government over the recent police recruitment drive and said that it is a regular process which was unnecessarily exaggerated. In a post on ‘X’, Mayawati said, “The recent constable recruitment in Uttar Pradesh was publicised as if it was something new, whereas such recruitment in the police is a regular work, so that the evil of backlog does not come to the police department as well. But did the entire society get its right in this recruitment or not and what about their training? This is the common concern.” She said, “In my BSP government, police recruitment was made honest by creating 1.20 lakh new posts in one go to establish a justice-oriented environment of ‘rule of law by law’ in the state, the benefit of which was received by people of all sections of the society without any discrimination, which is now lacking a lot.” Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over appointment letters to more than 60 thousand soldiers in Lucknow on Sunday. Wishing a bright future for the newly appointed 60,244 soldiers at a ceremony held at the Defense Expo Ground here on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said, “In my view, one thing is more important than numbers, 60,244 youth are sitting in front of me and I am saying with courage that no one had to pay a bribe of even a penny.” He had said, “This recruitment has been done with transparency. No expenses, no slips, no recommendations, not on the basis of caste… Out of 48 lakh applications, all of you have come on the basis of your merit and I believe that there cannot be a bigger achievement than this for any government.
