ED raids over classroom scam, BJP’s desperate attempt to divert public attention: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday termed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids over the alleged classroom construction scam as a desperate attempt to divert public attention and said the allegations against party leaders were politically motivated. The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday raided several premises in the national capital as part of a money laundering probe into the alleged Rs 2,000 crore classroom construction scam that took place during the previous AAP government in the capital, official sources said.
The raids were carried out after the ED registered a criminal case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) recently taking cognizance of an FIR filed by the Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) in connection with the aforesaid allegations. At least 37 premises of contractors and private entities linked to the case were raided by ED sleuths, sources said.Reacting to the raids, the AAP in a statement accused the BJP of continuously demolishing slums and destroying the livelihood of the poor and marginalised across Delhi. “These so-called raids are nothing but a desperate attempt to divert public attention from the reality. The allegations are baseless, politically motivated and have been levelled only to divert attention from the anti-people actions of the BJP,” the statement said.
