Shah to inaugurate new building of CFSL near Kolkata, address BJP leaders
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to West Bengal and on Sunday he will inaugurate the new building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) at Rajarhat near Kolkata. Along with this, he will address Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and officials at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. Shah arrived here on Saturday evening. He was welcomed at the Kolkata airport by BJP state unit president Sukanta Majumdar, Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari and party leaders Agnimitra Paul and Rahul Sinha among others. Earlier, Shah posted on ‘X’ in both English and Bengali, “Leaving for Kolkata. Tomorrow I will inaugurate the new building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, which will greatly contribute to strengthening the criminal justice system in West Bengal and Northeast India.” He said, “I will interact with workers at the Vijay Sankalp Karyakarta Sammelan in Kolkata. Looking forward to participating in the programmes.” According to the official programme, the home minister will inaugurate the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) at Rajarhat on the outskirts of Kolkata on June 1. Later, Shah will address Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and functionaries at a party convention at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. The meeting is expected to focus on the party’s strategy for West Bengal ahead of the assembly elections in 2026, party sources said. BJP state unit president and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar said, “Amit Shah will give us the roadmap for the next assembly elections in the state.” Shah will also visit the ancestral home of Swami Vivekananda at Shimla Street in north Kolkata.
