Mamta Banerjee is brokering Modi, Adhir Ranjan’s big attack on TMC

Bengal Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has created a new controversy by attacking Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and accusing her of secretly working for BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Attacking Congress ally Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata, Adhir Ranjan said that she was brokering and lobbying for Modi, which is why an agreement could not be reached between the two alliance partners in West Bengal. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury took a dig at the Trinamool Congress and alleged that the current West Bengal government tries to create a rift between the two communities. The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and a five-time MP from the Berhampur seat also said that the TMC is using all its resources to prove that the ruling party has fielded a candidate this time (TMC has fielded former cricketer Yusuf from the Berhampur seat). Pathan should be given more preference because he is from the minority community and I am from the Hindu community. On the other hand, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee held West Bengal State Congress President Adhir Ranjan Choudhary responsible for the lack of seat sharing under the alliance of opposition parties in the state. Banerjee said TMC wanted seat-sharing with Congress in Bengal so that the ‘India’ alliance could fight together. He asked why the Congress sided with the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), its long-time arch enemy in the state, and blamed Choudhary for the alliance. Abhishek Banerjee, after holding a road show here in support of TMC candidate Yusuf Pathan from Baharampur, said that the only reason for the ‘India’ alliance not taking shape in Bengal is Adhir Ranjan Choudhary. Pathan is contesting from Congress’s Chaudhary on this seat. Ever since the formation of the opposition alliance, CPI(M) had made it clear that it would fight against both BJP and TMC in Bengal. Choudhary has been MP from this seat for five consecutive terms and is in the fray again for the sixth time. Whereas BJP has given ticket to Nirmal Kumar Saha. Elections for this seat are to be held on May 13.
