Railway projects will improve connectivity infrastructure: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said his government’s approval of four multi-tracking railway projects will improve connectivity infrastructure, increase convenience for people, reduce costs and strengthen supply chains. According to a government press release, Modi said this while reacting to the Union Cabinet’s approval of four projects of the Railway Ministry. The total cost of these projects is around Rs 18,658 crore. Spread across 15 districts of Maharashtra, Odisha and Chhattisgarh, these four projects will add about 1,247 km to the existing network of Indian Railways. Prime Minister Modi said that the Cabinet’s approval to the second phase of the ‘Vibrant Village’ program is an “extraordinary news” towards ensuring better living standards in border villages. He said, “With this approval, we are also expanding the scope of villages covered in the first phase of ‘Vibrant Village’.” The objective of this program is to improve living conditions and create adequate livelihood opportunities to ensure prosperous and secure borders, curb cross-border crimes and integrate the people living on the border with the nation and prepare them as the ‘eyes and ears of the border security forces’ which is very important for internal security. A statement said that this program with a total outlay of Rs 6,839 crore will be implemented in strategically important selected villages of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal by 2028-29.
