Rajnath to flag off IOS Sagar from Karwar Naval Base, inaugurate projects
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will flag off the Indian Ocean Vessel ‘Sagar’ (Security and Growth for All in the Region) from the strategically important Karwar Naval Base in Karnataka on Saturday. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s commitment to regional maritime security and international cooperation. He will also inaugurate some newly developed infrastructure while visiting the naval base in the afternoon, officials said. The Navy is expanding the key naval base under Project ‘Seabird’. The Defence Minister’s Office on Saturday wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will flag off INS Sunayna as Indian Ocean Vessel ‘Sagar’ with 44 personnel on board.” It has also shared a video in the post showing the training phases conducted both on land and at sea under this mission. “IOS Sagar will play a vital role in shaping the future of the Indian Ocean Region, reaffirming India’s commitment to building strong ties with its maritime neighbours and working towards a safer and more inclusive maritime environment in the Indian Ocean Region,” the Defence Minister’s Office wrote. Indian Ocean Vessel (IOS) ‘SAGAR’ (Security and Growth for All in the Region) is an initiative towards continued cooperation with the IOR countries.
