Digvijay Singh targets BJP over “Saugat-e-Modi”
Taking a dig at the ruling party over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “Saugat-e-Modi” initiative, Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh on Friday said that it is good to give gifts to Muslims, but their houses should not be demolished and an atmosphere of communal harmony should be created. When asked to comment on “Saugat-e-Modi”, Singh told reporters in Indore, “It is good that they (BJP) give gifts to Muslims, but at least they should not demolish their houses and destroy their homes.” He said, those who are distributing gifts to Muslims should at least give them a gift that they do not speak nonsense against them. They should create an atmosphere of harmony between Hindus and Muslims and not fight over temples and mosques.” When asked about the debate on judicial accountability that has intensified after a large amount of cash was allegedly found in the official residence of a Delhi High Court judge, Singh said, “There should be accountability. If so much cash had been found in someone else’s house, that person would have been in jail by now.
