Babasaheb’s dream is still incomplete, we will fight his battle with full force: Rahul
Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that the dream of Constitution maker Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar is still incomplete and the Congress will fight his battle for equality and respect with full force. He shared a video of Ambedkar’s 1927 ‘Mahad Satyagraha’ with former University Grants Commission (UGC) chief and educationist Sukhdev Thorat on his ‘X’ handle. Rahul Gandhi posted, “The fight for share that started 98 years ago continues. On March 20, 1927, Babasaheb Ambedkar directly challenged caste discrimination through the Mahad Satyagraha. It was not just a fight for the right to water, but for equality and respect.” He said, “Discussed the importance of this Satyagraha with Professor Thorat, a well-known educationist, economist, expert on Dalit issues and member of the study committee on caste survey in Telangana. During this time, we also discussed in detail the struggle that Dalits still continue to have for access to governance, education, bureaucracy and resources. Gandhi said that caste census is an important step towards bringing out the truth of this inequality, while its opponents do not want to let this truth come out. He said, “Babasaheb’s dream is still incomplete. His fight is not just for the past, but also for today. We will fight it with all our might.
