‘Made in Bihar’ locomotive will be exported very soon: Vaishnav
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Monday announced in the Rajya Sabha that the export of locomotives manufactured at the rail factory in Madhaura, Bihar will start very soon. He said, “In the near future, the factory in Bihar which Lalu Prasad ji (then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad) had only announced, did not work… Work on that factory started from 2014. In Madhaura of Saran in Bihar, about 100 locomotives made in this factory are going to start exporting very soon. Made in Bihar locomotive is going to go to the world.” This announcement was welcomed by the members by thumping the tables. Lalu Prasad was the Railway Minister in the Congress-led UPA government from 2004 to 2009. Along with this, Vaishnav said that India is now exporting metro coaches to Australia. He said that India is also exporting important equipment of railway coaches to Britain, Saudi Arabia, France, Australia. He said that railway coaches and locomotives are also being exported from India to various countries. Vaishnav was responding to the discussion in the Upper House on the functioning of the Railway Ministry.
