Reddy announced that based on rigorous scientific efforts, the population of backward castes in the state is 56.36 percent. CM Reddy said that Telangana is proud to lead the social revolution in India. I am proud to announce that the longest pending demand of our brothers and sisters belonging to backward castes since Indian independence, the desire to be counted and recognized in the official census has finally been fulfilled. Today, as the Chief Minister as the leader of the Telangana Legislative Assembly I solemnly declare that based on the most scientific, systematically rigorous and arduous efforts of our people, we can say that the population of backward castes in Telangana is 56.36 percent. We are now pledging to ensure 42 per cent reservation for this group in all spheres of life – education, jobs and employment and political representation. Let us be on the right side of history and let each one of us be a supporter of this historic step.
