Eknath Shinde made a disclosure in the Legislative Council
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde made a sensational claim in the Legislative Council, revealing that former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had apologized to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting in Delhi and expressed his desire to form a government with the BJP. Shinde said that however, Thackeray went back on his word on returning to Mumbai. CM Eknath Shinde revealed the inside story and said that Uddhav Thackeray met PM Modi in Delhi and said, ‘Please forgive me. We want to join hands with you again.’ But after returning to Mumbai, he changed his stance. Shinde further said that Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Parab was also involved in similar backdoor talks. Anil Parab, when you got the notice, you also went (to meet BJP leaders). You asked to avoid the case and after getting relief, you changed sides. I know this very well. Defending his decision to break away from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and ally with the BJP, Shinde said his faction worked in a transparent manner unlike Thackeray. “We did everything openly. We did not work secretly. We took a stand when the ideology of the Shiv Sena and Balasaheb Thackeray, symbolised by the bow and arrow, was under threat. When you (Thackeray) adopted the ideology of Aurangzeb, we overturned your vehicle,” Shinde declared in the House.
